Netflix Cracks Down on Account Sharing with New Password Policy
Account holders will be able to add extra members outside their household for an additional cost, while Netflix assures access while traveling
SAN FRANCISCO (XNews) — Netflix is rolling out a new password policy globally to restrict access to accounts only for those within the same "Netflix Household". Users outside the household, i.e., those sharing accounts, will now have to start their own accounts or pay extra to be added onto a Standard or Premium plan. Netflix will use data such as IP addresses and account activity to determine if a device is part of a household but assured that they won't collect GPS data. Netflix customers will still be able to access their accounts while traveling. Also, users can add extra members outside their household for an additional cost.
